Brazil, Beers and Girls

In Brazil companies are saved the expenses of hiring sophisticated commercial experts to advertise their projects - they just stick some hot Brazilian girl on the poster enjoying their favourite project.

Nothing goes quite as well with a 'stupidly-chilled' beer than a girl in a bikini of course and the beer companies have hit such a winning streak by associating sex with beer drinking that they'd be fools to stop. In acoun try of simple pleasures beer drinking and beautiful babes are part of the Brazilian tradition.

Brahma isn't the only beer company in Brazil to exploit the tactic of course as we see with the commercials for Skol below that would bomb in any Western country.

"Skol, a cerveja que desce redondo", literally 'the beer that goes down round' or well. The 'round part presumably is a play on words for the shape of the model's breasts, never a cause for embarrassment in Brazil. A Western mind might perceive the beet bottle to be a little phallic but a Brazilian would probably call this a boring gringo point of view.

Returning to Brahman, we see that the ideal of dual consumption - beer and sex - is further reinforced with the idea of your dream sexy waitress ready to serve you all that you could desire.

Then again, perhaps we shouldn't be too quick to laugh at such a simple premise; as the famous English ad goes: "Beer - getting ugly people laid for centuries".

For all the fuss made in the media about new drugs of persuasion, there can be little doubt that alcohol has been the date-rape drug of choice for most of human history and it;s doubtful whether the Brazilian beer companies have any problems with that.
